Mpox Biology, Outcome, Transmission and Epidemiology - MBOTE-Kamituga

The MBOTE (Mpox Biology, Outcome, Transmission and Epidemiology) project is a multidisciplinary research collaboration between the National Institute for Biomedical Research (INRB) and the Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM Antwerp).

Nested Study news

The nested study, part of the wider CCP study, investigates the risk factors and outcomes for COVID-19, with a particular focus on co-morbidities in an African context. The participating countries are Cameroon, Ghana, Guinea and Uganda. Recruitment is currently ongoing, with 201 participants as of 13th October 2023.

FISSA Study news

The study was completed in December 2021 with a total of 8,848 participants. The study valorisation is currently in progress.

The FISSA team will be meeting in Abidjan late November/early December for a writing workshop, with the aim to finalise the papers related to the FISSA study.

CDASH Mapping for the ALERRT FISSA Study CRF

The FISSA study is a prospective study of Fever in Subsaharan Africa conducted by the ALERRT network. The FISSA study case record form (CRF) is developed and implemented by the FISSA Principal Investigators, the study team and the FISSA Data Management Team.

Funding for ALERRT COVID-19 Clinical Characterisation Protocol

The Wellcome Trust and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) have awarded a substantial grant to Dr John Amuasi from the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine to fund the ALERRT COVID-19 Clinical Characterisation Protocol (CCP).
